Glenwood High School is located in Sydney’s north west sector in the suburb of Glenwood, near Castle Hill. It enjoys strong community support and services the suburbs of Glenwood, Kellyville Ridge and most of Stanhope Gardens. The school opened in January 2005 with an enrolment of 216 students in Years 7 and 8. Each year it has added another year group and will present its first Year 12 for the Higher School Certificate in 2009. In 2009 the total enrolment in Years 7 to 11 totals 1204 students. The school also has a support unit for students with disabilities.

Glenwood was built under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) system with a private consortium, Axiom Education, building and equipping the facility according to NSW Department of Education and Training design codes and standards. This system requires the consortium to provide all maintenance, cleaning and security for the 30 year life of the contract. This has many advantages for the school when compared to the previous system.
Excellent academic results, particularly in literacy and numeracy, a growing reputation in sport, an energetic and committed staff, a strict uniform code as well as a positive, yet strong, discipline code have contributed to Glenwood’s excellent reputation in the community. This has resulted in a very high demand for enrolments from non local students.

Glenwood has already developed a reputation for excellence in the creative and performing arts, with its annual “Festival of the Arts” gaining much praise in the local community. The Glenwood Dance Ensembles have been selected to perform at both the Western Sydney Dance Festival and the Sydney Dance Festival. Artwork, including photography, produced by Glenwood students has been praised for its outstanding quality.
An annual public speaking festival has showcased the speaking talents of Glenwood students while Glenwood debating teams compete successfully in a number of regional and state competitions.
The school’s motto, “Opportunity Through Learning” was chosen to give emphasis to the school’s core business of learning and its prime purpose of providing all its students with the knowledge and skills to maximise their opportunities in life.
A strong student welfare system supports a broad and comprehensive curriculum which is delivered in a nurturing learning environment.
Glenwood’s facilities are extensive and modern, and are set in pleasant grounds.
